Catherine Hearnden is a Director of Hearnden Associates Limited. After leaving University Cath originally pursued a career with HM Customs and Excise but became disillusioned with the prospect of large scale bureaucracy.
Cath joined Sun Life of Canada as assistant to a Financial Adviser but soon realised she would rather advise than administer. Having studied for her financial adviser exams, set by the Chartered Insurance Institute, Cath had a successful career in a very male dominated company but, following marriage and children, decided the way forward was to set up her own fully independent company.
Hearnden Associates was founded by Cath in 2000, working from home. Once Cath had set up Hearnden Associates Paul joined her within months, along with Stuart Inman. With an administrator in place the three associates quickly built on their successful track record gained with Sun Life Financial Services and moved to purpose built office accommodation in September 2003. Cath is proud of the fact that from small but solid beginnings just six years ago Hearnden Associates now has three advisers and nine administrators, several of whom are training to give financial advice.
Cath is a school governor at her younger son’s primary school and an active member of a local health club as well as competing in mini marathons.
Before coming into the financial services industry Paul Hearnden had various jobs both here and overseas, including two directorships. A year after returning to the UK Paul was approached by a financial services organisation which led to him pursuing a career as a financial consultant with Sun Life of Canada. However, Paul became increasingly frustrated by the restrictions placed on him by being tied to one company rather than being able to source the entire marketplace so in 2000 Hearnden Associates was formed.
Once the Company was set up Paul joined Cath and continued his highly successful career in all aspects of financial advice with a particular interest in pensions and investments.
When not at work Paul can often be found driving or tending to his beloved 1979 Aston Martin V8. Paul is an enthusiastic golfer but work and family commitments conspire to keep him away from the greens as often as he would like. Paul is also Chairman of the Lingfield Chamber of Commerce.
Stuart Inman is the third Director of Hearnden Associates and has been giving financial advice for twenty years. He started his career with TSB Bank as a savings and investment adviser before moving on, seven years later, to be a financial consultant for Sun Life of Canada. After four years with the Company he was approached to join the newly formed Hearnden Associates. In the early years Stuart worked from home but with the departure of his administrator to the West Country he now works at our offices in Lingfield.
One of Stuart’s proudest achievements is that as he continues to build his ever expanding customer base many of his clients have been with his from his days with TSB.
As well as being a family man, Stuart also manages to find time to train for the London Marathon, watch Charlton Athletic whenever he can and participate in track days on his motorbike.
